Weird 0_O

but strangely pretty good...

Weird intro, not the most entertaining thing, but good stuff in general. I like the queerish melodyish and "spacey" sound...I especially like when you chop it up-but I think the intro was generally overdrawn out. when you come in with the percussion and sound effects it sounds really strange but in a nice way. When the next synth comes in, trying lowering the decay on the reverb as its a little bit too overpowering and awkward sounding over the mix. (I really do dig the sound though) Or atleast, try to put some reverb on the starting sounds to balance the mix out.

Another thing you may try want to do is reduce the repetiveness, try mixing up the composition more, add some louder synths or cut the overall track length down.
The intro and the end are too similar, and melodically wise, you could spice it with a wider array of sounds to make your track more interesting throughout.

The bassdrum needs to be louder, and you need to mix up the rhythm and note velocities more to make it sound less cheap. Also try to add more percussion samples in here, or just make a drum beat with hi hats and a snare.

Overall tho here, unique composition. Interesting music nevertheles here mate, I wish I was this good at three days! (hope I wasnt being to harsh)

Not bad

Well the overall loop is decent. You've got a good harmony going on with both the synth string and sytrus bells. The beat is slow and appropriately fits the track.

Now, some things you might want to do for your next track or if you delve into this project more:
-Try looking around for some more samples then the default FL studio ones, either that or mess with the EQ and add effects to make them more original
-Pan the drums(like you could tilt the hi hat to the left or the right so theres a wider sound)
-Maybe add a more continuous bassline
-Possibly compose another more subtle melody alongside to compliment the bells
-Once the chorus hits, try expanding more on the strings-make chords out of the melody, add some reverb for depth, layer it with a pad for more power

hope these suggestions helps! overall, fairly decent work here, keep it up :)

Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Most of this is super fresh, real easy to listen to and makes a real laidback feel.

Really chill pads, good use of the samples (I can tell the majority of them came from FL studio, but you blended and mixed them adequately so it doesnt come off as"presetish") Like the shakers and the timpanis. The melody is real nice, kinda sounds R @ B esque, flows really nice, and I like how you use a good variety of synths to carry out the main themes quite effectively.

2:30 hits the heart...nice big airy pads, some of it glaced in reverbs, emotional bendy synths, really craving this whole thing you got going on.

The beat works real nice-but there's one thing you're missing. I hear no prominent bass kicks-and also some subass may more effectively give some phatness and overall contribute to making a more full sound. So whatever bass you got in here, bring it out more. You might also want to include more dynamics to make a more dramatic sounding drum beat.

You mixed it overall real well and professionally. a lot of changeups in here so it was never repetive. Great job man!

In the last 3 hours or so your the first I PMed. That's because I saw you on the Audio board and figured
you would listen in! As far as he bass goes. It's there and it's really deep....if you have a subwoofer. It's a drum submaster and Vintage kick. It's hella deep so you need a sub to actually hear it. Or get some Puffy headphones and push them to your head and you'll hear the bass. Hell if i turn it up any louder it'll be super unbalanced in cars and headsets with bass. So hell that's the best I could do for Comp Speakers...I hate that to be effecting my score of a 5. Someone already like gave me a 2 or something and dropped my score from 4.77 to 4.59 that hurt! Well anyway thanks for the review. You got pretty indepth man. Thanks again.

woah how'd I miss this one

well, i didn't listen to all of the submissions, but this should make the top 5.

I really like the composition-is this your original work (the intro was the only part that sounded unfamiliar)? Its really warm, but slightly sad. most of the track is put together quite well.

anyway, first phase is really cool. I like those 32nd note chromatic arpeggios. Very interesting harmonization and balanced sound. Love the variations around 1:05. That high offkey note at 1:10 doesnt sound too good in the context of the track so far. You could have put more effort into making a transition into the next part, but it doesnt really detract from what youve got going.

The "He who shall be exalted" or something similar sounds great and I like the rhythmic variations. excellent job at transitioning into the next one (forget what the original song is called) and I really the sound that you got. Really cool drum beat and glitchyish FX around 3:00 and so forth, perfect ending.

Great authentic 8bit sound, I just think the drums volume could be raised a level in the intro section.

Outstanding work man! I usually much prefer hearing original work, but you got real creative with this track. This is perhaps one of the most original remixes on NG, I really appreciate the effort dude, it was loads of fun to listen to!

-O Come Let Us Adore Him is the song you're talking about. That first part and the ending is entirely mine, I just put some remixes of Christmas songs in there (and I did it all by ear too!)

-I guess the drums could have been more powerful, but then it'd take away from the mellowness that I wanted to still be there, just more of a "cool" mellow? lol :p

Saddenning; some parts needs some work

I really like that melody that you opened with, it has a real sad sound to it and nice FX in the background. Nice mallet percussion, the synth itself just sounds to presetish.

When you use that synth sequence in the song, it comes in way to randomly, and completey disrupts the flow of the track. It doesnt fit too well so I would take that out completely unless you can figure out a way to make it drift in and out more smoothly. I do appreciate your experimental style tho. I would just go straight into the part with the drums and build from there.

The ending was pretty good, connects with the intro, and I like how you ended the song with ambience. Too add dvierstiy, maybe start off with the intro with different lighting/rain FX samples or no FX at all.

So, you've got yourself a nice opening melody to base an entire track around. I would work on this more and experiment with variations both melodically and rhythmically. A bassline and some synth strings would work great in here. You also did a decent job of mixing, the bass kick is powerful but doesnt clip, you can hear everything relatively clearly. Only one problem, those sytrus presets and drum samples will bore most people. At first, its quite diffifcult to make unique instrument/synth sounds-I would experiment with the reverb, chorus, and EQ FX on the mixer at first. This will help increase a more personal touch.

Thanks for the review and like ive said before i was thinking of makeing a ambient at the same time of a rave so i just mixed lol and thats what the name stands for in jappenese(ambient rave).

Hollywoods got a new film composer

First off sounds downright professional-straight out of a medieval battle based movie. Definetly nice to listen too. Does lobby = menu? I think the softer parts are perfect, with a cutscene in the background as warriors prepare in their camp for battle. The interlude is a little bit too epic-just IMO. not that the interlude detracts from the piece at all, it just seems a little unsuitable. Then again, you're just doing a remix right?

anyway, blown away by the intro, uplifting strings and a powerful timpani hit like a heartbeat. Snare rolls are perfect with a nice battleish rhythm. Nice lead up with the oboe and winds to the main themes. These melodies are bank! Amazing how everything harmonizes with excellence together, sounds great. Especially like the snare rolls in this section. I think some louder cymbals would make this more epic. Also, since this is a battle themed track shouldnt there be more emphasis on lower ranged brass? or would that drown the strings out? This would be perfect for a representation of the hours before soldiers enter a battle with honor, knowing there is a chance that they may not see the light tommorrow.

lobby refers to the place where you go to pick maps to play in. Like a gathering spot for idle players before they go off to play and kill others (or be killed by others).

All excellent suggestions S-3rd-C (wow your name is so sweet in short form D:), the crash can indeed be louder, though i've always gone wrong with them before by making them too loud I figured this time better too soft, then too loud. Of course having found that fine point would have done more for the song. And yes, this is in fact a remix. The original is, slightly less melancholic, and more aggressive.

The brass was told to play this texture purely to give it a more subtle defiance. It's true that should they have had a more important role, a more struggle worthy image would have presented itself, though it would have detracted from the image that I was thinking of. The image I was operating off was of soldiers who fight, but not entirely willingly. They fight because they have to, and they fight well. Expert killers, ruthless slayers, but ultimately, simply broken warriors.

Coming from you these compliments mean a great deal. I have a great respect for your work and though I don't write reviews *though I should*, i'm constantly keeping up to date with the works of artists I enjoy.

The Twilight Review

again, nicez intro fading in with the drums and everything...i especially like the panned clap samples and the twittering hi hats something different from the overused techno drumloops. fades in, the main opening melody kinda drones and morphs into the background...startup (00:30) could have been a bit stronger. Gets more interesting once the solo with the lead saw and nice tibetan bells. LOL! wasnt expecting the choir at all, nice touch hehe! I like how you combine all the instruments for a conclusion, quite a good wrap up.

overall this piece is really good-there just something a little generic on that I cant exactly put my tounge on. you could try using a more consistent structure throughout with more continuous bass and snare drums. and maybe change up that main melody you use in the intro. But it doesnt bother me at all! its probably just because i'm a sucker for more classical and ambient based works ;)

Impressive Improvisation

nice keyboard skills. I am indeed impressed that you improvise a chord progression that invokes a feeling of honor so well. you say that you were off beat at some parts but I wouldnt have even noticed it unless you pointed it out-which is still good overall because its takes lots of practice to not make a messup when improvising. I always choke up when I'm on the spot or recording an instrument.

again, really nice composition. I like how you add more energy and increasing dynamics around 4:20, and the slowly fade it out around 5:00s and concludes quite well. I especially like the chord you end on. so really nice recording man- reminds me a bit of a movie about castles, dragons, knights, and all that lol. It even sounds a bit like an A Perfect Circle song.

the sounds are a bit cheap but the overall recording is clear enough. Does your keyboard have a midi output? If so, you could try recording the data and then replace them with a synth. you can even edit the Midi Data. then you could also add strings in here and some orchestral percussion-which I think would be a great addition. anyways, good luck and keep up the good work!

Soundscaper?

interesting SBB. Doesn't really invoke an evil feeling until the wind hits in around 2:40, but throughout this track retains a very creepy, sad, but chilling sound at the same time. I think this was perfectly mixed together, all the little sounds are at appropriate levels. That round, quiet synth thats kinda muffled and flows with that echoey plucky sound is really cool. I cant really say too much about this one but I definetly appreciate the various snippets. It was a bit too random but you dont need order for a piece like this. Still there is a great progression and the focal point of the track was in the middle, and it gets calmer as the clip ends. I just think you should have faded out the ending.

[Crying Soul Christmas]

Not bad

not a bad idea at all here. Nice warm melodies that do indeed remind me of Christmas all played on winter-sounding synths. That's really the only cool part about the track-some cool harmonies. the beat is nothing spectacular, I like to see that you're trying to use some variation with a loud kick, but at times the kick is way too overpowering, especially when you use the heavy accents-try using some compression or just lower the note velocities-it brings down the track, and makes the snare inaudible. if you want to still have bassy sound throw a bassline in here. Also jingle bells (if you can find a sample) would be a cool subsitution for hi-hats.

overall great work on creating the melodies it does indeed remind me of Christmas but work on that kick some more.
