definetly a different nice mix, but not your best

glitch sounding tracks IMO...

its definetly original hearing a sax and glitch mix. the sax lines sounded really nice and jazzy. the drums were different, maybe a tad annoying-I personally prefer the flow on some of your other glitch tracks a bit more. but I know how hard it is to make glitch/IDM style music connect together. the track does loop well tho. the strings sound nice in harmony with sax in the end, the tone could have been a bit thicker tho.

but once again great work, good luck with breaking that block hehe

yeh dude, the drums are way ott, was gonna give up on this but i took out the drums and it builds up real nice with the bass sax and guitar...
watch this space, this could turn into a pucka pie track

Disturbed Shadows

ha, definetly not a good clip to listen to before going to bed. but I love this type of sound; sick as hell track man. very diverse and creepier than brian peppers himself. I like the panned percussion/ambient noise in the start..that basic bell synth carries a nice freakish melody..I love the snare sample you use and how the bass works it's way into a beat. around 2:00 the track reminds me of the matrix...nice machine noises and everything. where do you get all your samples from?

anyways great track. I cant really criticize you on anything either...maybe add some more melodical stuff, an eerie bass line, make it a bit less repetive, tho I see you changed a lot of the melodies up a bit throughout the track. hey man, I would just keep it the way it is! it seems like you took a lot time to mix and master the stuff and add FX, great quality/clarity here.

this track probably wouldn't go well with a lot of people, but I think this type of music deserves more recognition, on NG and in real life. I have friends that would just listen to this track once, awe, and not listen to again. personally I could listen to glitch/IDM/minimalist over and over. I've taken a liking to dissonant, experimental music. anyways, peace out man, good track.

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks a lot for the review.

As for where I get samples - everything in this track is synthesized. There are no samples used. The snare was generated out of "Massive" - it's just some modulated noise :) Same with all of the other little blips whines and buzzes - all just synthesizers doing their thing.

I'm glad you found something about it that you liked. As for it's popularity, well... I doubt anything like this will ever be very popular as "listen to it all day" music. I do like to pretend that there are certain cinematic possibilities for tracks like this though.

Talk to you later mate.

sweet man, 8 bit but sounds so good

definetly very interesting track. love the sounds and cheapass synths you used...but it sounds nice. love the drums, they add a nice funky feel. at the end of the track that lead melody flows over the entire mix real nicely too...and is a nice exit to the track. this track reminds me of an 8 bit jungle.

snayk responds:

Thanks a lot for the review!

Good to hear you really liked it. I had a lot of fun making this song, and I feel it is my best 8-bit track yet (I've only made two others, and just one of them is decent).

man you are good with oboes

I'm liking this track mate. once again, you never cease to strike a chord with me with your melodical talent. great oboe tone man, what do you use for this? I love it. the string ensembel is really nice as well. love the tempo changes, only problem is that it suddenly comes to a stop.

goob job once again! gets my 5

Suspended-3rd-Chord,
Thanks for your review, first off. I really try hard to please people. I'm happy you liked the oboe. I love the oboe, and really enjoy making songs with it. It has to be one of my favorite woodwind instruments out there... haha
I kinda got the feeling that this song wasn't all that complete, but at the same time, I didn't know what else to do with it. I guess I intended it to be more of a loop than anything.
Maybe, when I fix this, I'll add more stuff so the song doesn't come to a complete stop.
Thanks for your review!

This is a salad of pure awesomeness

as always I'm very intrigued by the complexity of IDM music. I have no choice to give IDM music scores 9 or higher because they are quite diverse, and SO good sounding, in a real, unusual way. this track certainly is no exception. I DL'ed a little IDM plugin the other day, I guess I kinda figured out how to use it...but still can't make anything good sounding with it.

nice interesting blending of sounds on the first half of the track..the drums and bass sound really finesse..I like the hip hopish sounding lead synth...and then I heard some middle easternish sounding melodies kinda hidden in the track..they were pretty cool. I like the ambient feel around 2:00, it sounds like I'm in an eletronic forest or something. anyway, I don't know what else to say about the track, but its really cool and unique. I could see this being used in a futuristic game. nice mixing, everything sounded authentic and created no problems on my speakers. and it was more than just mixed well, it was mixed creatively. again, good job. I think I just warped to the year 2377.

THATS MAI SALAD

Has a pretty slick mystical feel to it

this sounds like a mixture between final fantasy and old school shinobi mix. I love it. very free flowing, nice melodies. the progression is sweet and sexy...love the sleepy bass melody. it definetly has a dreamy feel to it. the choir ahhs make the track sound like I'm ascending to heaven. I like when the track becomes a bit dark and serious with the little octave guitar riff that sounds like an alarm...but when there was a short pause, there was these nice drifting well-panned bell melodies, but it kinda felt off key and maybe a bit off time.

the instruments are old fashioned sounding, it reminds of me mid-late 90s VG music...some of the best. what program do you use?

lovely track. continue composing mate.

Cosmos8942 responds:

Thanks for that...T.T your my first real reviewer...oh! I am so happy...sad...something =.=. But yeah, I hear you on the off-time issue. That was something that I noticed only after I posted it =.=.

this, has a really nice, atmospheric ambient feel

I was about to go to bed, but I saw this track and had to review it :)

the intro is pretty simplistic, but works itself into a good mix, slowly, and very smoothly. it has a relaxing feel to yet, while sustaining a serious demeanor. the rhythm stayed pretty much the same the entire track, but it never got old. I love the space sounding synths. love the FX you use here, nice panning. the basic percussion really complements the track nicely, not taking away the tracks atmospheric, slow feel. nice bass kicks and shaker beat. I'm not too sure if I liked the middle section of the song, it was a bit too happy for my tastes in comparison with the rest of the song. but after it's all done, it fits the track really well. in fact, after I listened to this track twice, everything flows perfectly. I could imagine playing some weird space adventure game, where I'm searching for a treasure in darkness, with this as the BGM.

nice job at keeping the song simple, but at the same time mixing everything up and not making the track sound tedious. you get my five man.

CyrusOfNaias responds:

Yet another friendly review! Thank you so much for your input. I do agree that I think I was a little too hasty with the middle phrases, though for some wird reason I liked it more than the rest of the song!

I feel obligated to go visit your Audio as well. Thanks again!

not a fan of ska but pretty decent work here

hey, its a pretty cool track and I could see this style of music appreciated by a large audience. overall, the song was kinda bland and generic, but hey, it still had a nice sound to it. the vocals remind me of the singer from green day. nice brass lines, and I appreciate that you added a well performed guitar solo in there. my favorite part where the drums.

keep up the good work man.

AceIH responds:

Thanks...trust me, I know how generic the song is. We've got much better songs, but I think you'll find the sound quality isn't quite as good in any of them.

mmm nice catchy song

nice melody theme, the progression sounds a bit familiar. the drums are pretty cool, nice hi hat work. when you play the guitar-sounding synth, it has a catchy rhythm to it. cool solo laced in near the end of the track, it kinda blends in with the rest of the work, you could have brought out the sound more by panning it a little to the left or right. nice track quarl :)

Quarl responds:

har! Thanks for the reivew. I love it when people take the time out of their lives to write up something. It feels so nice. I'll make sure to return the favor!

I'm glad you liked the song. I used a really generic progression so I'm not suprised if it was easy to follow. The entire song is synthetic so...yeahhhhh...and the solo is improvised. I've secretly been working on that melody for two years though. It was the first thing I ever wrote on the guitar, so I just had to transepose it...ARrrrAeraqr.

this song has a particular catchy element to it

It sounds kinda cheap, but there was something about this song that made me listen to it 10 times consecutively while I was doing something elsewhere. I could probably listen to this loop all day without getting annoyed.

the melodies and song sounded a bit tedious and uninspired, but it had an overall nice reflection to it. the beats were kinda repetitive, but in a good way...perhaps you could have added a little bit of reverb to the brass to make them sound a bit more authentic. nice speaking in the end, I laughed. you got a really moody sax tone on one of your other songs(it was either linearcargo or gwai, or maybe both) that I liked.

snoballandthmonyshot responds:

cheers broski,
aye, it cheap, like i said i just chucked down a beat and a bass line so i could play some saxamaphone. listen out for some more well constructed stuff with sax overkill
;ped

Cherish the moment. For in a moment, it will be gone.
