another awesome one ;)

this one reminds me a bit of the matrix or some sort of cyberpunk movie. I absolutely love the DnB touch especially in the intro! a nice rumbling sub, and some heavily reverbed choirs- perfect for a scene with an epic buildup of some type of machine emerging into outer space or something of the sorts. I'm also really digging the multiple effects you put on the breakbeats, the reese is tight too, and nothing is overdone.

the interlude was pretty cool too, perhaps a bit empty, might be able to use a distant, simple sounding melody too add some more imagery too this piece. Great job at arranging the three main parts, you came back with the third part and put the most energy in this part to come to a grand finish.

Production is crisp as feck, real sweet track you got going on here dude, if you create something as sick as this for the CTSG collab I don't know how I will be able to come near to matching your skill :P

yep

I can't say much because I'm not a flash producer, but what I do know is that this collection of sounds are sooooo CCCCC.

I like this one very much

Definetly continue on this one man, it's got a real lovely atmosphere. It indeed does have a very dreamy atmosphere (although I don't see how repetition equates to making dreamy feeling-but regardless, I've listened to this atleast 10-15 times while just browsing the BBS and didn't get tired of it all) and it loops, and flows flawlessy. I can picture my young years as a child at a carnival at night, riding a marry-go-round (forget what you call them), eating cotton candy, and actually having respect for my parents. Just living a life completely devoid of worries. I love that gated (?) synth, and that cheery melody that back it. the windchime is a perfect fit, just that little spice that completes the loop and adds a genuine touch.

you say its poorly equalized/mastered/compressed but I think its A-Ok, although I can't do engineering stuff really worth a damn. It sounds really crisp and airy, a perfect EQ for a floaty, dreamy sound- and your drums sound like they are on an adequate level, not too loud, not too quiet, the perfect blend for this clip.

so keep up this for sure, I can't think of much too add- you can try building on to the backing melody, add subtle changes as you go, and then maybe bringing in some light bassy pads or strings and add some deep reverbed keys. Just an idea- but keep trying to finish this- its a great piece. I have trouble finishing tracks myself. I'll definetly favorite the full version if you ever release it. Good luck!

it might just be a simple loop to others, but somehow this one just struck a chord with me.

Seriana responds:

Thanks for the review, I really appreciate it.

I was trying to go for that feeling of being young and innocent again, but it's all interpretation I guess. You must have a good ear.

I'll reupload the finished version. Thanks again for the support.

this one works as well :p

A tad annoying like the reviewer below said, but its serves its purpose. It's definetly got a more light hearted "haha you suck" gameover for a child type of game, then one commemorating a fallen warrior. the melody and bassline are great, and an extra point for the ending :P i like the 32nds and then the resolving, i would've ended on a chord to. And maybe a synth to play some extended notes would give this a fuller sound too.

keep it up as usual ID :P

itsameyayo responds:

Thanks! Yeah, annoying was the purpose, and it seems to be working, lol. Sorry if it's too annoying for yah ;)

-I wanted to leave the ending empty so it annoys further, not like the gamer would deserve more, they lost :P

-Once again, thanks!

*pumps fist*

this is near perfect, perhaps perfect, possibly could use more of a build- but it could work depending on the purpose. The arrangement is excellent. I like the snares and crash cymbals, and the brass and strings/choirs- very good selection for a battle theme.

maybe make the crash cymbals and put more emphasis on the brass section since it's battle based- but sweet work!

itsameyayo responds:

It's more a victory theme (hence the title) but yeah, definitely epic :D

-Thanks! hmm, oh, btw, the crash cymbals are real :D

I've listened to this track multiple times...

Very interesting collection of two loops here ID.

First loop is nice man, I like that swirhling sparkly pad, and how the distorted panned melodies on the side and how the glitchyish drums with a nice fancy effect work there way in. A real nice, creepy and slow build. It reminds me of like the "ogotus" being in a laboratory being operated on, and there's a slow rise in the end like they're breaking out of the test tubes.

I really enjoy the second loop! It's got a real nice happy feeling and smooth melodical progression, for example the Ogotu's frolicing around once they're exposed to the free world. It's bit tranceyish while retaining an original edge. i like the piano melodies, and the echoing plucked string sounds in the second phase. Smooth strings add a nice layer and calming layer of bassy warmth. I love the melodies and harmonization in here. It's the perfect loop to use for a game.

put some structure and a more detailed ending (i know it was just for a game) and this a 10/10 ;)

awesome track dude!!! i hope you make more like this.

itsameyayo responds:

Nice, thanks! I'm just plowing through a lot of stuff, I hope to be a film composer or video game composer someday.

Pretty nice

This is a pretty solid track dude, at first it reminded me of an old genesis game, during a fast pace racing scene of some sorts. Bass line groovs pretty well, lead synth is a good fit playing a cool, battlesque melody. I like the very fast arpeggio in the second phase and then the next synth working into the mix and then the sick harmonies. So you sequenced this track pretty damn well and arranged the riffs to make for an effective battle composition. Drum beat is a swell fit and keeps the rocking groove moving, but if you could replace the FPC stock samples that would be great. Wouldnt be bad if you incorporated some fast tom rolls in transitions too.

the mixing could be polished a bit more. The lead synth is loud and apparent, but during the more layered parts, you may want to lower the overall volumes a bit more and maybe put some light compression on this. (although I hear no clipping from my headphone standpoint) its just sounds like the other instruments in the background are competiting to be heard, and it drowns some of the drums out in some sections ( in the first phase I can barely hear the hi hats, the crash is nearly inaudible, and during the end I didn't even realize there was double bass drums pounding until you faded the instruments out). it might be pretty cool if you introduce a different lead, which I would think would add some diversity and room for cool harmonization in the end.

Kickass composition here though, could definetly be used in a battle flash of sort.

r0bz0r responds:

thank ya very much for your review (again :D), yeah, volume balance/mixing is a weak point of mine, still trying to improve it.

anyway, you're right about the drums (I admit, I have a tendency to neglect them), so once again, I'll take what you've said into consideration for my new music :D

thanks again, your reviews are helpful and appreciated

ill as hell

this kinda has a hip hop feel to it, atleast to me, I love it.

I like the first section the most, with that little blip and the upbeat dream, and the reecey things whatever they are. someone could lay some ill rhymes over the intro.

when it gets frantic it sounds really cool, and the entire mix is really mixed well. I love the drums, the hi hat bits, and when you put certain sections in a phaser. Hell when you keep it variated by adding those crash cymbals and tom rolls it sounds real sick too. The synths are real sweet too, very cool DnBish melodies. I like that echoing arp too.

anyways, real cool track, no real criticism, you used GB to its fullest!

Quarl responds:

Thanks! Probably the kindest review i've ever received :P

Great flow

dont listen to a lot of Rap/Hip Hop admittingly but this rap right here is pretty legit. Good selection of the beat (although I'd prefer for artists to make their own) I like the percussion, piano chords and strings harmony, and the brass during the interludes. It's a real chill beat.

I don't know how to really grade lyrics, but what I do know is that you definetly got a great flow. The beat was relatively fast and you keep up with it with ease. Pretty smooth rap voice, and well recorded vocals with no unwanted noise from what I can hear. Favorite line in third verse "Last but not least let me send my rest and peace to my brother and father in the East" and "a band of brothers with hands faster than Jackie Chan"..something like that...anyway, can't think of much criticism for this track, maybe if you wanted to put like one downtempo chorus rap during the brass interlude as it was mostly just rapping on the verse phrases. Certainly not a flaw tho.

keep up the good work!

fun and cheery

I like making 8bit music too, this is a nice mix you got goin on here. I do indeed enjoy the main melody that you use in here, its very happy and peaceful and happy, kinda brings a childish calm. The little bass tones are a nice complent, and I like that drifting round tones in the background to make some pretty interesting harmony in here. the composition kinda cut off in the end, you need to finish the melody on the main square synth and probably extend the note for a bit longer.

one thing this could definetly use is a bit more diversity- through using more changing rhythms to make your track less repetitive. you have some good melodies but it gets annoying when you dont convey your themes through establishing a rhythm scheme.

this could use a centered, warm bassy and fuzzy pad to make for a more fuller sound. I would say pan your synths too, but 8bit is all mono so there wouldnt be much sense in that eh? most of all, my favorite part about 8bit tracks is the bitcrushed, lofi drums, did you think about including any in here? try googling bitcrusher if you're interested, I personally think that would add a good element to this track. i might be able to put some in here too, if you would like.

sweet melodies and nice thinking with the 8bit themes. keep making music.

TheReno responds:

Well thanks for the tips man. This is my first attempt at making 8 bit, so Im used to instruments that carry their note a bit farther then this ending did. But for this song I did something diffrent. Instead of using the main melody as a base, I used the starting pattern. That is to say, instead of using the melody after the start that has alot to it, I used the starting melody to guide how this song would develop, and it came out nicely, but the problem you just mentioned came up on me unnoticed. It lost some of its diversity. But I like this song, and Im glad that it was a success. I dont care that it got a 3, it wasnt a 1,2, or 0 so Im happy. It means Im on the right track. Thanks for the review, I will definately defer back to it when I make my next 8-bit song.

Cherish the moment. For in a moment, it will be gone.
