I must say...you've improved

I wont comment on originality based on the track because I havent heard the original, but your mixing skills have improved. Everything sounds pretty clear, and all levels are adequately adjusted, panned, and hearable. No clipping and its well balanced! I'm certainly no expert in this department but its obvious you've made some strides to make your work have more clarity. I think your strings could be a tad louder, but meh. The focus is on the brass because they play the main melody. So good job, not to mention its a fun sounding tune, too. Very well arranged.

I can get you better sounds (legally, free) to replace the cheap sytrus strings and that brass sound you have if you're interested. Not that it sounds entirely bad it just doesnt sound authentic at all. Well, keep up the good work and keep improving!

knuxrouge responds:

Thank you for your support and acknowledgement.
I'd love to get my hands on some better instruments.
Please show me where.

wyldfyre1 responds:

This is a magnificent piece, where you did an excellent job at capturing the soothing sea/ocean theme, with the reverbed keys with an excellent delay effect. Might I also add that the FL keys work rather well in this piece. Some sweet filtering with the glass filtering and choirs, and some very warming string bits. I like the mallet percussion harmonization as well too. Great melodies, could easily sleep to this. Drums sound nice too, I like the samples you incorporated, the loose snare sample sounds real nice. very good piece, too bad it ended just as it was getting off the ground. All in all, good tune that I enjoyed listening too.

oh another nice one, I like the padwork, and that creepy melody. You are so good at taking a few notes and making them sound so good in the background to really help create an atmosphere, if you get what I'm trying to say. Love the drums as always, great beat, nice sounding samples, especially the distorted-reversed crash I think it is? and how you glitch em up in the second half was real nice too...this was a bit on the simple side, as it didnt have any huge changes or a complex structure, but still man your work rocks! I like the vocals and the FX on them too, and how you chop them up, I cant ask for more :)

snayk responds:

Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoy my music.

*Listens to the whole thing then reviews*

Love the style man. Nice job with the start with the IDMish drums if I can call it that, than you brang in the chords and that really cool pitch modified synth. Beats sound crisp, I like the reese but I think it could be raised. When the sine wave with the pitch bends came in, I had an orgasm...its that great. And I'm glad you brought it back a couple phrases afterwords. Really great synth development in here backed with good beats and well flowing sequencing from start to finish. Also loops pretty decently.

only thing, you might want to put in a subbass since its drum and bass...but really good song...

oh, and I reviewed while listening actually to be honest, but I did listen through twice tho. Really great song! Good enough for my favs fo sho. very good. will check out more of your stuff.

Rawrthaas responds:

Thanks dude

a sub bass would have done this song loads :)

very enjoyable

this is very good, I think I might try something like this myself but I suck at making synths. I really like those pads and how they fade in and out. Really nice bassline. Simple beat to go along with themes, I really like how everything gels in here. I might also add great job with the samples, since there just made out of sine waves. They sound realistic enough for this style. Nice minimalism, but I think you should have done something more with the beeps you started with, changeup the rhythm, bend in and bend out, go to a different notes, make a nice lead melody out of it. All in all, very nice short little ditty here tho.

p4c responds:

hehe yeah, its all really simple stuff, the drums were a bitch but i think theyre good enough for the feel of the song :) if i feel like coming back to this, maybe ill take ur advice for the beeps. they are kinda repetitive, but i think it kinds adds to the tone-out vibes of the song. thanx :)

You've improved quite a lot in the aspect of mixing as well composition I see :D Very well structured track!

I like the deep reverb model to reflect space, as well as the ping pong delay effects, very nice! Never a dull moment in this song, very great piano playing and flowing melodies, when you think its about to end you pick up the song again. Sweet spots: cool chord at 1:26, cool sixteenths arpeggio at 2:07ish (I lost the spot lol). Overall nice work, mostly gloomy happiness is the vibe I picked up from this, with a touch of mystery to add to the spacey dreaminess theme.

Good job WB!

WritersBlock responds:

Thanks, S3C. I'm really glad you like this. The part where it sounded like it was going to end, well, that's where I planned on ending it. XD But then it didn't sound right.
I'm hoping the improvements in this song will carry over into future songs. I'm working on a few things at the moment, but they haven't fallen into place yet.
Thanks for the encouraging review!

I love the mix of styles

Usually hip hop has simplish but effectively catchy melodies...its always nice to turn it up a notch and put some jazz over a nice hip hop beat...So styles like this are always appreciated. I especially like the beats and how you put a lot of work into them tweaking every sample. Piano and brass flows really smoothly, I really enjoy the chords you use. and I like the transition into the section at 1:45, nice shakers and strings used. I really like how the main melody theme flows over a more active steady beat and the background strings.

This one sits really well with me. Props for making a kickass tune in GB!

timpinisucks responds:

Thaks so much for the comprehesive review. I appreciate it tremendously.

why yes

people really need to appreciate tracks like this. Midi guitar and drums = win. Especially like those pitch bend licks and blastbeats. and vocals = ace. Just needs more BREEEEEEEEEEE

DyingFuzi responds:

thanx dude i appreciate it! its interesting how extreme vocals are performed..usualy i'm quickly out of breath..anyway.. stay heavy =D \m/

hella sick

dude your name rocks, and this song rocks! I really like that synth you start with, its super sharp and catchy. And I like how you fade it in. I really like the sound on the drum samples too. I love how you use the harmonic minor scale to get the arabianish sound at 0:40ish. Trance + harmonic minor melodies = win. Just make it longer and PM me the full version if you finish this!!! Awesome track so far dude. You sound pretty good so I'm sure you know what's going in the final mix, but just to make a suggestion, I would probably add a swirling pad and use a another saw for the lead melodies or a cool pitch bending sine thingy. well keep it up!

Cherish the moment. For in a moment, it will be gone.
